Little Stories

On Friday night, I had to go to my great aunt's wake. Well, my family is not quiet- even during wakes and funerals. I hadn't even gotten through the door, when my uncle screamed, "Well, it looks like all that fooling around finally paid off!" I was mortified!

A few moments later, my Aunt Cecile, a quiet, reserved, almost nun like person walked up to me, placed her hand on my belly and left it there while we talked for five minutes. I didn't mind because I know her but it was the first time someone has done that, so it took me by surprise a little bit.

Last night, I had one scoop of ice cream with a bit of chocolate sauce, and then I sat on the couch to watch "Chuck." Russ had gotten me my big pillow, so I was propped up on the couch. Well, our baby kicked me off and on for over half an hour! It was hilarious! I swear, I felt it on the outside, so Russ came over and left his hand in place for ten minutes or so, and our baby didn't budge. Poor guy! He was disappointed. I know it will happen soon. But it was kind of funny, because after he got up and went to the other couch, the baby started to kick again. He he he!

I wonder if the baby was kicking before when I didn't think it was---I mean, I woke up last night to the baby kicking in the middle of the night. The first time I felt it was at 3:38am...so I wonder if this baby is just more apt to being active when I am asleep...hmmmm...

Daycare

YES! Russ just called me with the best news! We have daycare all set for the new baby! Phew! The whole process is so difficult because we don't want to do daycare but we have to...so you are looking for this place where you are comfortable leaving your child---and everything is an unknown...plus it is so expensive making it even more overwhelming! This daycare is at someone's house, and she has a room off the main part of her house. Plus this lady is very reasonable---only $27 a day! We looked at some places that charge $42.00 a day. We are saving $15 a day! We are saving a minimum of $720 a year.

Kicking To The Shredder!

I am getting beaten up today by the baby! I am shredding at work today. I had just started, and bam! I got kicked! Then...BAM! I got kicked again! This baby has kicked me at least 12 times already! I take it the baby doesn't like the shredder! (I don't blame the baby~ mommy doesn't like it either!)

Baby Update- Week 23

So here is my belly at 23 weeks. I just tried uploading an image of the ultrasound (which is wicked cute!) but it won't let me! :( So I thought I would show you my belly instead!
Since my last appt., I have only gained a pound, but the baby is up to 1 pound and 7 ounces. The baby is a little taller than normal as well! I am just praying that this baby tames it down a bit on the growth so I can go O'Natural!
The heart rate and everything looked good with the baby, and my blood is doing okay as of right now, but to be on the safe side, they are going to have me start going for an ultrasound, doctor visit, and blood draw every two weeks now until the baby is born. I am not really nervous about anything going wrong; I am actually excited that I will get to see the baby every two weeks and not have to wait four weeks again! The little one was being really cute during my ultrasound today, and little one kept sucking on it's arm!
BTW- in this picture, I am wearing my most comfy maternity outfit! They feel like pajamas!

Weekend and Looking Forward

What a busy weekend I had. I did way too much. I still had my cold but was feeling better. I started at 7am on Saturday and didn't stop until 4:00- STUPID. I was pooped. Sunday, Russ and I did a bunch of errands. We got the stones for the retaining wall, the carpet for the baby's room, and some other things. I did all the gardening outside...the backs of my legs can attest. Russ got the wall done. Needless to say, by the time we got to grocery shopping, we were both pooped!

I have a doctor appt tomorrow with an ultrasound. I am looking forward to it. I am anxious to see how much the baby has grown. Four weeks ago, the baby weighed 10oz. According to books, the baby at 19 weeks would be around 7-8 oz. So I am curious to see what the baby weighs now.

3:38 AM- A Time I Will Never Forget

This morning- 3:38am to be exact, I felt the baby move! It was the first time I could actually say, "I know that was the baby!" I woke Russ up, and he was excited, but he quickly fell back asleep. I couldn't fall back asleep---I just layed there hoping to feel it again, and I DID! Then I fell back asleep. But it was very exciting, and I am much more at ease knowing the baby is moving around in there!

It felt like a flutter across the front of my belly.

Big smiles for me today! :)

Cops and Colds- Weekend in Review

Friday night, mom and I had nice evening. We just spent it being quiet and catching up on our weekly tv shows. She said she had allergies...well, this was her on Saturday monrning. "I think I have a cold." On Saturday morning, mom and I went to a scrapbooking event. I finished our wedding album. Four years later---but done! That evening, Russ and I went up to Auburn and had a fabulous dinner with our friends Kate and Adam. On the way back, my throat started to get scratchy.

I woke up Sunday---with a cold! I went over to Lindsay's to help her with her algebra---I wasn't so helpful. I came home and stayed quiet. Russ had gone over to his brother's to watch the football game. It was about 6:45 at this point. The dogs were being quiet, and I was watching a movie. All of a sudden- I heard this really loud noise- it sounded like someone was trying to bang open a door. I freaked out. I called 911. I was so scared. I couldn't stop crying. It was awful. The policeman came right over and checked out the whole house. I was in a state of freight for almost an hour. I had called Russ, and he came right home. I felt so silly!

Tugs, Tanner and the New Baby

So, Tugs and Tanner have been very clingy to me lately. Tanner more so but both have been sitting on me on the couch and in bed. We can't get them to sleep on the floor anymore. They insist being on the bed next to me! Tanner follows my every moment. He actually sat next to the shower the other morning and waited for me to get out. Then last night, Tugs pooped on the rug. Tugs is now 2 years old, and since we have had him, he has only done this twice, and it was our fault because we didn't take him out when we knew we should have. Russ and I have been debating if they could sense my pregnancy, and I really think they can.

I just found this article on the internet...and thought it was very interesting.

"Just how your dog will react to your pregnancy will vary according to your pet. Many women report that their once husband-loving pet has now abandoned that man for her and her pregnant belly. Often becoming more clingy and protective, dogs have been known to stay directly beside mom’s side, even waiting outside the shut bathroom door or next to the tub while you bathe and sleeping beside your bed every night, for the full nine months.
Other dogs may be more vocal in their protection, barking or growling at anyone who approaches the pregnant woman, sometimes even physically blocking people from the mom-to-be. And if your dog starts to take more notice of your belly, nosing it, smelling it or even trying to sit on it, don’t be surprised. She knows that’s where the change is.
While this extreme affection can be endearing (and likely a bit annoying at times), it can also go the other way. Some dogs may react to the pregnancy by becoming aloof and wanting nothing to do with you. They could become stressed and exhibit anxiety, such as pacing and excessive licking. Worse still, they may start to act up by relieving themselves indoors. If your dog’s behavior becomes particularly troublesome, make an appointment with the vet."

It will be interesting to see what else they do as I get further along.

Work in Progress---but oh so close!

This weekend, Melanie and Andrew came over, and Andrew helped Russ put together the crib. We got the room in order. Not sure if it will stay this way or not and still have a rug to get and the shelf to hang...but here is what it looks like for now. We want to get a cream colored shag carpet to soften it up a bit! I think Russ did a great job on the painting!
